Hauwa Abdu Biu is a professor of curriculum and instruction (Science), Department of Education, University of Maiduguri, Borno State in Nigeria. 

Hauwa Biu is the Borno State coordinator of BAOBAB for Women’s Human Rights. She is active in the campaign to Bring Back Our Girls, liaising with the Chibok community, amongst others.

Her experience ranges from research and documentation on gender issues, bridge building between communities (peace negotiation and mediation), training of trainers on gender issues, and capacity building and conflict resolution. Notwithstanding, she is skilled in participatory rural appraisal, promotion of women/girl-child education, campaigns against early marriage and female genital mutilation and sensitization on women in politics and development

Prof. Biu holds a B.Sc. Ed and M.Ed from the University of Maiduguri, and a Doctorate from Kenyatta University, Kenya
