Modelling Success and Institution Building: A Study of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC):

Under the project, CDD as part of a consortium in the region carried out a comparative study of four states in the region. The project documented the state of the human rights commissions in Ghana, Benin and Nigeria. It explained concepts and themes used in the study of International Human Rights Law to define obstacles to compliance and mechanisms of human rights enforcement, Nature and depth of transformations occurring in the international system and their prospective impacts regarding consolidation of human rights institutions in Africa and Scope and limits of institutions helping to formulate, process, and implement new global policies on human rights. The project is phase 11 of the first phase on study of the Independent Electoral Commission. This project was supported by CDP/CODESRIA
Human Rights Initiative Project

The Human Rights Initiative Project Implemented in the Lake Chad Region including Nigeria, Niger and Cameroon is aimed at documenting and holding perpetrators of Human Rights Violations accountable through judicial and non-judicial options, it’s also works towards promoting use of Human Rights Best Practices across in the counter terrorism efforts of the State and non-state actors across the Conflict Zones.
Liberia – OHCHR

The Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) and OHCHR have provided funding and technical advice to the Independent National Commission on Human Rights (INCHR) and advised civil society organisations on how to implement activities that will encourage the Liberian government to take the lead and commit to implementing the TRC recommendations. CDD and OHCHR have supported the Liberian civil society in engaging strategically on the quest for accountability. We helped design interventions, delivered advocacy training and facilitated experience sharing.
