Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) Round-Table Discussion on Good Governance and Elections
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in collaboration with the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) organised the second phase of the roundtable session with select Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to chart a course on ways to promote good governance, ensure a free, credible and peaceful elections in Ekiti, Osun and the general elections in 2019.
The Director General National Orientation Agency (NOA) Dr Garba Abari advocated for a robust share of experiences and ideas by participants on ways by which the sensitization and enlightenment of the voting population can become better achieved.
In his message at the forum, the representative of the Director, Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) Mr Ayotunde Razaq commended the Agency and members of the CSOs for their zeal and commitment towards ensuring that democratic tenets are sustained in the country.
With specific focus on the forthcoming elections in Ekiti and Osun state, the discussion at the roundtable focused on four key thematic areas: Electoral violence, voters’ apathy, hate speech and the need to expand the frontiers of voters’ enlightenment through effective sensitization and mobilization of the citizenry.
